A recent study about social media and smartphones has some very interesting findings:

* One-third the developed world has moved to smartphones
* 66% of Europeans use their smartphones to visit social media sites
* Social media is having a positive impact on corporate brand awareness as word of mouth spreads quicker and easier

Key take aways for businesses:
* Ensure your website and communications are mobile friendly
* Connect to customers via social media. But be careful what you say. People are not interested in blatant self promotion, they want substance and value. Don’t be afraid to solicit their opinions
* Make it easy for others to share your posts through their social media sites
